Millions of people throughout England face this bank holiday weekend travel cuts due to heavy traffic, railway strike and ongoing engineering work.
Rac called on the drivers as early as possible for holiday getaways or “ready to spend longer in traffic”.
Approximately 18 million drivers are planning holiday trips between Friday and Mondays.
Three million journeys are expected for holidays or daily trips on Friday and rises to 3.4 million on Saturday. Approximately 2.4 million leisure journey on Sunday and 2.7 million journeys on Monday are expected.
The figures are based on responses to the survey of 2,080 British adults provided for 34 million cars licensed in the UK.
On Monday, the Bank holiday in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is the last before Christmas.
