National Highways has confirmed that a diversion route is in place for southbound passengers affected by the M5 closure.

A spokesman for the highway authority said: “Southbound traffic is advised to follow the route marked with the solid diamond diversion symbol visible on local road signs.”

Here’s the full breakdown of the route:

At J24 Huntworth Junction, exit the M5 and take the 3rd exit onto Huntworth Lane/A38. At the next roundabout take exit 1 towards Taunton Road/A38. Continue south on the A38 towards Taunton. At the A358/A38 junction turn left onto the M5 towards the A358. M5 J25 At Blackbrook Roundabout take exit 4 southbound on M5.
