M60 traffic LIVE: Lanes closed near Pendlebury and and Whitefield after car fire | UK | News

Traffic is backed up on the M60 following a car fire, with motorway cameras showing long queues forming near Whitefield.

Images taken from the scene show a vehicle engulfed in flames near the Whitefield exit this morning (Monday, May 11). Two lanes on the motorway’s clockwise carriageway were closed between junction 16 for Pendlebury and junction 17 for Prestwich and Whitefield.

Traffic monitoring service Inrix reported that traffic was approaching the incident “very slowly”, while motorway cameras showed queues continuing to form.

An accident was also reported on the nearby M61. The northbound side is partially closed from junction 3 to junction 4.
