A busy Manchester motorway was closed in both directions ahead of morning rush hour on Friday (April 17).

The M66 is closed in both directions between junction 3 (Pilsworth) and junction 2 (Bury) due to a police-led incident.

The incident was reported to police at 3.23am this morning and they closed the road in both directions.

There is no confirmed reopening time, according to National Highways.

Drivers are advised to find alternative routes.
