American figure skating pair Madison Chock and Evan Bates would consider contesting the scoring that gave them the silver medal and their French rivals the gold medal in the last Olympic ice dancing final.

“I think we’ll take that into consideration. I think skating is a very subjective sport, but to be fair I think it’s good for the judges to review their work. Not just after this competition, but to make sure there’s a fair and level playing field for all athletes in all competitions,” Chock said.

They received 134.67 points in the free dance and completed the race with 224.39 points.
Chock and Bates earned double gold medals following Sunday’s Team USA victory, but they had to watch one more routine to see if they could take gold when Fournier Beaudry and Cizeron took the ice.
But the judges decided that the French duo had done enough to beat the Americans in the end.
Beaudry and Cizeron scored 135.64 points in the free dance for a total of 225.82 points.
Chock has since called for a review of the judges.

Bates also praised fans who spoke out in support of the American couple amid the controversy.
“It means a lot to have people voice their opinions on our behalf,” Bates said. “The way we skated and the way we achieved those goals, I hope our response resonated with people at home. I think that can reflect the Olympic spirit, too.”
