Madras High Court denies permission for construction of multi-storey apartments at Parthasarathy Gardens in Alwarpet

The Madras High Court on Wednesday canceled the planning permission granted by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) on September 13, 2024, to construct multi-storey apartments in the sprawling Parthasarathy Gardens in Alwarpet.
Justice V. Lakshminarayanan held that a multi-storey flat cannot be allowed in the area without legally changing the residential conditions imposed by the Chennai Corporation in 1968 when Menaka Parthasarathy converted the property into a residential scheme.
