MAGA lawmaker’s shock comment after attending Situation Room crisis meeting on Epstein

A devoted MAGA follower of President Donald Trump is raising eyebrows with comments he made after attending an emergency White House Situation Room meeting regarding the Jeffrey Epstein files.
In an unusual move, senior administration officials met with GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado in the White House Situation Room on Wednesday to discuss the House vote on releasing documents related to child sex offender Epstein. The Independent reported.
“I think I’m pretty high profile,” Boebert said.
ABC News reported that White House and Justice Department officials pressured Boebert to remove her name from her House release position, which mandates a vote on releasing files related to Epstein, who died by suicide in prison in 2019.
The petition had 217 signatures at the time; this was just one of 218 total signatures needed to take effect. Boebert is one of four Republicans who signed the measure.
Following the Situation Room meeting, Boebert wrote about X: “I want to thank White House officials for meeting with me today. Together, we are committed to ensuring transparency for the American people.”
The lawmaker told CNN that Trump did not attempt to pressure her to remove his signature from the petition.
“Doesn’t this demonstrate the level of transparency when we are willing to sit down with members of Congress and address their concerns?” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters.
But Leavitt added: “I will not go into detail about the conversations that took place in the Situation Room.”
Asked why the meeting was being held in the ultra-secure Situation Room, Boebert said, “It’s just an easy process.” [Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility] to reach.”
But the Situation Room is historically where high-level matters of national security are coordinated, such as the deadly attack on 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden in 2003.
Trump also called GOP Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina, who signed the petition. But Mace remained cautious, writing on social media, “I will NEVER abandon other survivors.”
Rep. Adelita Grijalva (D-Ariz.) provided the final discharge signature required Wednesday after being sworn into office by GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson after weeks of delays.
