Mahesh Babu To Explore Japan With Varanasi

Superstar Mahesh Babu’s upcoming film Varanasi is all set to release in 2027. While the team is yet to complete the shoot, director SS Rajamouli recently revealed that most of the shoot is still pending and will take around six months to complete next year.
Interestingly, strong rumors suggest that Varanasi may also get a theatrical release in Japan. IMAX Japan’s official X promoter shared a sneak peek of the film along with its release year, sparking speculation that it will be released in Japan. Earlier, Rajamouli’s film RRR had created history at the Japanese box office despite being released much later than its debut in India.
Now the producers are reportedly considering a simultaneous release of the film in Japan along with its worldwide release, which could significantly expand its reach. Rajamouli has already emerged as a strong brand in Japan and is known to draw large audiences to theaters.
“Japan is a new destination for Telugu stars because the fan base there is expanding rapidly,” admits producer TG Vishwa Prasad, who will also release his much-hyped film The Raja Saab in Japanese. He adds, “Prab even visited Japan a few weeks ago to meet fans during the release of Baahubali: The Epic and got emotional during his interaction with them. He has gained a huge fan base in Japan as well as in the US and other countries around the world.”
Earlier, Jr NTR and Ram Charan had achieved great success in Japan with RRR. Jr NTR also visited Japan to promote his latest album Devara and connect with fans. “Fans from Japan even came to Hyderabad to meet Ram Charan and spent quality time with him,” says director Hemanth Madhukar.
He notes that Telugu stars are expanding the global footprint of Telugu cinema by crossing regional and international boundaries. “These are good times for Telugu cinema and its top stars, who are gaining new fans across the world as well as a loyal fan base,” he concludes.
