On November 6, Indian Army troops of the Shakti Vijay Brigade helped stop a serious fire in Tangdhar’s Bukhaiya village. The fire was caused by an electrical short circuit. The flames spread rapidly, endangering surrounding houses. An official statement said vigilant troops of the Shakti Vijay Brigade and the civil administration brought the fire under control, preventing a major disaster.

Earlier, on October 29, Jammu and Kashmir Fire and Emergency Department Udhampur averted a potentially catastrophic fire that had engulfed a huge pile of stubble (Cattle fodder) that could have posed a danger to vehicles passing on the busy Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Udhampur. Sharing the details of the incident, Udhampur-Reasi Fire and Emergency Department Deputy Director Sarvesh Langer said, “A fire was reported in the Tharad area in the afternoon, where a fire broke out in dry grass. We dispatched fire crews from Udhampur Fire Station to the scene and took the fire under control. If not for quick intervention, a panic situation could have developed…”
