Major police operation under way after man shot in broad daylight in Blacktown, Sydney

A man has been shot in a brazen daylight attack in Sydney’s west, with two men now in custody.

Emergency services were called to Carinya Street in Blacktown at around noon on Friday following reports a man had been shot.

Police said two men were arrested on Kildare Street after a short pursuit.

“There is a large emergency service presence in the area and police are surrounding the area,” the police statement said.

“There is no threat to the public, but the public is asked to stay away from the area.”
