BBC director general Tim Davie resigns over Trump documentary controversy
BBC director general Tim Davie has resigned following criticism that the BBC Panorama documentary misled viewers by editing out a speech by US President Donald Trump.
The publisher also announced that News CEO Deborah Turness has resigned.
Mr Davie’s term in office, which began in September 2020, has been mired in intense controversy and scandal, culminating in a turbulent period in which he came under heavy fire from many angles last week.
This was his second term as general manager, after serving as acting general manager between November 2012 and April 2013.
