A man who stabbed him in the face, neck and hands with scissors after a nurse asked him to wait has been arrested. prisoner Up to 28 years in prison. Romon Haque, 38, asked for medication from a Royal Oldham Hospital employee at 23.30 on January 12 last year.

Sergeant Jennifer O’Brien, of Greater Manchester Police, said: “This was a horrific, unprovoked attack on a woman doing her job for those in need in hospital.
“I want to pay tribute to the bravery of those who intervened and prevented the situation from potentially becoming much more serious.”
Following the brutal attack, the nurse was seriously injured requiring urgent medical attention and was taken to intensive care.
Haque, of Yasmin Gardens, Oldham, pleaded guilty to possessing a bladed article. He was later found guilty of attempted murder.
He was sentenced to 28 years in prison at Minshull Street Crown Court on Wednesday, February 11. He will spend 22 years of his sentence behind bars and the remainder on license.

Det Sgt O’Brien said: “Emergency workers should never face violence from the people they are trying to help. I’m glad Haque is now behind bars after this disgusting incident.”
North West Crown Prosecution Service Senior Crown Prosecutor Claire Aitken said Haque’s attack left the nurse with lasting trauma after he was found guilty of attempted murder in July 2025.
Haque was hospitalized for a mental health evaluation on January 8, 2025, but was found to be showing signs of withdrawal from drugs and alcohol.
After his arrest, he told police that he heard voices, but after the first hearing, he was deemed fit to stand trial by two psychiatrists.
Savage admitted attacking the nurse and causing serious injuries, but claimed he had no intention of killing her.
