Man, 76, charged after children fell ill at Leicestershire summer camp | UK news

A 76 -year -old man, several children were accused of being uncomfortable in a summer camp in Leicestershire.

John Ruben of Nottingham, Rudddington, Landmere Lane was accused of three deliberate patients. Leicestershire police said on Friday, the charges were about three children in the rural camp in the village of Stathern.

Police launched an investigation after the uncomfortable children who participated in the camp in the Canal Lodge near Melton.

Emergency services joined the scene and all men aged eight to 11 years were taken to hospital with an adult. All patients were then discharged.

Ruben was detained and will appear at the Leicester Magistrate Court on Saturday.

CPS East Midlands Chief Public Prosecutor Janine McKinney said, “The Crown Prosecutor’s Office Service allowed a 76 -year -old man to prosecute a child persecution after a police investigation in a summer camp in Leicestershire, Stathern Lodge.

“This decision was made after examining a evidence file from Leicestershire Police.

“Jonathon Ruben will be accused of the deliberate ill -treatment of a child with three boys.

“This was a very sad and shocking moment for society and especially for children and parents who were most directly affected.

“We want to remind everyone that he has an active criminal case against Mr. Ruben and has the right to a fair trial.

The Leicestershire police remain unclear whether the incident took place on Monday before being changed on Sunday, and whether the officers only responded on Monday, and that power is directed to the independent office (IPC) for police behavior.

Forces said in a statement: “Stathern Lodge’s owners and operators are independent of people who use the hut or hire or do not depend on the event.”

The investigation is managed by the major event team of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit.

Di Neil Holden, a senior investigation officer, said, “We understand the concern that this event will give to parents, parents and the surrounding community.”

“This is a complex and sensitive investigation and we will continue to provide updates to both parents and parents as much as possible and as much as possible.”

IPC said: “Our evaluation team examined all the existing evidence and concluded that the issue should be investigated independently by IPC.

“The investigation will look at the professional behavior violations that resulted in a delay in the response of the Leicestershire police to those who later declared a critical event – that is, whether the duties and responsibilities are not fulfilled.”
