Man and teen charged with murder after death of boy, 12, who was hit by vehicle

A case has been filed against a man and a teenager after a 12-year-old boy was hit and killed by a vehicle.

Bobby Bloomfield was seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle in Pilgrims Hatch, Brentwood, on Sunday and died later in hospital.

William Lunnon, 43, of Ashwells Road, Pilgrims Hatch, and a 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were charged with murder.

The detained suspects will be brought to the criminal court of peace on Thursday.

Essex Police were called to reports of a vehicle colliding with a child on Ashwells Road at 5.40pm on Sunday.

Two people who have since been charged were arrested that evening, and four more were arrested Tuesday afternoon.

Two men, aged 65 and 54, and two women, aged 65 and 45, all from Pilgrims Hatch, are being held in custody on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

In a statement released through police earlier this week, Bobby’s family said: “Losing a child is every parent’s nightmare.

“We are living this nightmare and no words can describe how we feel.

“Bobby brought light and life to our lives and we have lost that forever.”

Detective Chief Inspector Greg Wood said: “This remains a complex investigation and we have made significant progress, including laying charges and making further arrests.

“Our focus remains on determining the full circumstances and supporting Bobby’s family as they suffer an unimaginable loss.

“I continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.

“Even the smallest detail can help us build a clear and accurate picture of events.

“If you were in the area at the time or have anything that could assist our investigation, please report it via the public portal.”

Police have asked anyone with information to contact them. Sent via private public portal.
