Man arrested after knife attack on three women in Paris

French police detained a man who attacked three women with a knife near the Porte de Clichy in Paris on Monday, Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said.

Nunez said the man attacked three women, ages 19, 24 and 36, with two kitchen knives, seriously injuring two of them.

The video, posted on social platform

It is not yet known whether the woman was injured.

In another part of the video, the same man is seen lying motionless on the ground by bystanders, while two knives are lying near a pedestrian crossing.

The man lying on the ground said, “God commanded me.”

The man was taken into custody by an off-duty police officer, Nunez said.

“I remember him, it was a brave move,” he added.

Stating that the reason for the attack was unknown, Nunez added that the police could not confirm the identity of the attacker, whose statements were “inconsistent” when he was arrested.

France’s anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office said it was discussing whether to open an investigation.
