Man arrested after pedestrian fatally hit at comic expo

A pedestrian was killed and another survived after a car plowed into the road outside a popular supporters’ meeting.
The gray Toyota hit two pedestrians as it pulled onto the pavement at the Melbourne Showgrounds in Ascot Vale on Saturday evening, the first night of the Supanova show.
Police said that one of the injured people died at the scene, while the other was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
While police teams detained a person whose statement was about to be taken, the investigation continues.
Police are asking any witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers.
As thousands of comic book and gaming fans flock to Supanova Comic Con and Gaming each year, the Melbourne event adds a large number of visitors to an already busy area.
World-famous celebrities were set to headline the fair, including Stranger Things cast member Jamie Campbell Bower and Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy.
