Man arrested after remains of woman found in bushland

Police have charged a man with murder after the body of a woman who had been missing for several days was found in woodland.
The remains have not yet been formally identified but Queensland Police investigators believe they are Jana Armstrong’s.
Ms Armstrong was reported missing from the southern Brisbane suburb of Toowoomba after she was last seen on Tuesday.
Officers released footage of Ms Armstrong, who was last seen wearing a green-and-white striped Country Road shirt, jeans and a thong in her white Hyundai car, which was found about 500 meters from her home.
It was declared a crime scene at 11.20pm on Saturday after the remains were found in woodland off Esk Hampton Road.
Investigators are in contact with Ms. Armstrong’s family as forensic examinations continue.
Detectives later arrested a 48-year-old man at his home in Toowoomba and he was charged with one count of murder (a domestic violence offence).
He is expected to appear in court on Monday.
Police are appealing for information from the public for any relevant information, CCTV or dashcam footage to assist their investigation.
They identified locations between Toowoomba and Esk between 10.30pm on July 7 and 1.30am on July 8, after she was reported missing.
Police will address the media later on Sunday.
