Man arrested after woman found stabbed to death at home

A man was arrested and taken to hospital under police guard after a woman was found stabbed to death in a suburban home.

Police were called to a property on Delatite Court, a leafy residential street in Melbourne’s Vermont suburb, just before 10pm on Tuesday.

This follows reports that a woman was stabbed inside a house.

When police teams arrived at the scene, they found the body of a 39-year-old woman.

A man of the same age was arrested and treated by ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital under police guard.

Police believe the man and woman knew each other.

“The investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing,” Victoria Police said in a statement. he said.

The man was to be questioned by detectives and the homicide squad took over the investigation.
