Man arrested attempting to board international flight at Melbourne airport after allegedly murdering woman | Victoria

A man who tried to board an international flight for allegedly killing a woman will appear in court after his arrest.

Victoria police said the 67-year-old man was arrested at Melbourne International Airport before boarding a flight abroad on Friday afternoon.

He has been charged with one count of murder after the body of a missing woman was found in the town of Little River, 44 km southwest of Melbourne, on Saturday.

A 53-year-old woman from Dandenong was reported missing on Thursday after police deemed the circumstances suspicious and did not contact her family as expected.

His body was found near Little River Road and Princes Highway in Little River and police officers established a crime scene.

The body has not yet been officially identified, but detectives believe it is the missing woman.

The defendant, from Patterson Lakes, was detained and is expected to appear in Melbourne magistrates’ court on Sunday.
