Man denies threatening Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor on Sandringham Estate
A man has denied using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior towards Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor near his new home on the Sandringham Estate.
Norfolk Police said officers were called to Wolferton shortly after 7.30pm on Wednesday in response to reports of a man “behaving in an intimidating manner in the village”.
The former Duke of York was walking his dogs when the incident occurred near his estate at Marsh Farm. Telegram.
Alex Jenkinson, 39, of Debenham in Suffolk, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, where he pleaded not guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior towards Mountbatten-Windsor near his home on the King’s Sandringham estate on Wednesday.
Jenkinson, who was seen wearing a sling while appearing in court, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a blood sample while in custody.
He pleaded not guilty to a charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior with intent to cause fear or incite unlawful violence against a man named Stephen Terry in King’s Lynn on Tuesday.
Jenkinson was given conditional bail not to approach certain sites linked to the royal family. These are Sandringham, Buckingham Palace, Balmoral, Windsor and Highgrove.
Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard she must also not contact or approach Andrew, directly or indirectly.
He is due to stand trial at the same court on July 29 and prosecutor Josephine Jones said it was intended Andrew would give evidence via a video link.
Jenkinson was arrested on Thursday and questioned at King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre.
On her 66th birthday in March, Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office over her links to pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. He was later released under investigation.
He has vehemently denied any wrongdoing regarding his connections to Epstein.
The former Duke of York was forced to move out of the 30-room Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park after he became enraged over decades of paying peppercorn rent on the Crown Estate property and Charles’ private Sandringham Estate earlier this year.
Recently renovated for the former duke, the five-bedroom Marsh Farm is located in the far reaches of the vast 20,000-acre estate, just 4km from the King’s Sandringham House. It is only around 500 meters from the small village of Wolferton.
Last month the Crown Prosecution Service said prosecutors had “provided early investigative advice” to police as they conducted their investigation into Andrew’s links to Jeffrey Epstein.
The former prince, the first senior royal to be arrested in modern history, is accused of sharing sensitive information with Epstein while serving as Britain’s trade envoy.
Mountbatten-Windsor was the UK’s special representative for international trade and investment from 2001 to 2011. He resigned in 2011 amid outrage over his friendship with pedophile Epstein.
Her decision to step down from the role came the same year when a photograph was published of convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell with her arm around the main accuser, Virginia Giuffre, who claimed she was abducted by the former duke at her home.
The former prince paid millions of pounds to settle a civil lawsuit filed in the US in 2022 against Ms Giuffre, a woman he claims he has never met.
The King officially stripped his disgraced brother of both his HRH title and the title of prince in November 2025.
