Man dies and boy in critical condition after stabbing at skate park in Northampton | Northamptonshire

A man has died and a teenage boy remains in a critical condition after being stabbed at a Northampton skate park.
Northamptonshire police have launched a murder investigation after emergency services were called to the park on the Ringway in the Briar Hill area on Wednesday following reports that two men had been stabbed “during a fight”.
Police said: “Sadly, despite the best efforts of the public and emergency services, a man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene and a teenage boy was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains in a critical condition.
“Four people have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in police custody. Two young boys, a man and a woman, from Northampton.”
DCI Torie Harrison, of the East Midlands special operations unit, said: “This is a tragic incident which has sadly left a man dead and a young boy in a critical condition. “Our thoughts are with both families at this difficult time.
“We know that incidents like this can be a cause for concern in the neighborhood and the wider community and I would like to reassure you that we have a dedicated team of officers working quickly to establish what is happening.
“High visibility police patrols will be carried out in the area to reassure the local community and I would encourage anyone with concerns in the area to approach one of our officers who will be happy to help.
“Arrests were made immediately and investigations continue to progress rapidly, but I would still appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information who has not yet come forward to do so.”
Officers said a police cordon was expected to remain in the park while the investigation continued and that many roads had been affected by the incident and people should avoid the area as much as possible.
“In addition to house-to-house investigations, an increased police presence will also remain in the area, including high-visibility patrols to reassure and provide support to the community,” the force said.
