Man dies during police arrest outside pub in Adelaide CBD
A man has died after being found unresponsive while being arrested outside a bar in the Adelaide CBD.
Police were called to an alleyway in West Terrace shortly after 4.15pm on Thursday to reports of a man behaving “erratically”.
The man also reportedly damaged vehicles between Elephant and Castle and the Lexus showroom.
A worker from Elephant and Castle told The Advertiser they saw a man walking around the building with something in his hand, prompting them to call the police.
Officers attempted to arrest the man, but he resisted arrest, police said.
“During this process, the man became unresponsive,” a police statement read.
“Despite the police and medical teams performing heart massage, he died at the scene.”
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
The man’s death will be the subject of an investigation by the police commissioner.
