Man extradited from the UAE charged with murder of woman in London Airbnb two years ago

A man has been charged with murdering a woman at a Westminster Airbnb after being extradited from the United Arab Emirates two years ago.
Enzo Bettamio is accused of stabbing 27-year-old Kamonnan Thiamphanit, known as Angela to friends in England, in April 2024.
Police extradited Bettamio, 18, of no fixed address, on a flight from Dubai to the UK on Friday, following joint investigations by specialist lawyers from the Metropolitan Police and the Crown Prosecution Service’s extradition and international units.
Ms Thiamphanit was found by police at her property in Stanhope Place, Bayswater, with multiple stab wounds at around 8.30am on 8 April 2024. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bettamio will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who led the investigation, said: “I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Angela’s family and friends for their patience and unwavering support of the investigation, who have been through what has been an incredibly difficult and distressing time for them.”
The Met referred him to the Independent Office for Police Conduct following the murder, after officers contacted Ms Thiamphanit’s friends twice the day before her body was found.
Neighbors reported hearing high-pitched screams from the property on Stanhope Place, near Marble Arch and Oxford Street.
The case was rated as a medium-risk missing person investigation before officers forced entry and found the body of the 27-year-old, who was a national of China, Hong Kong and Thailand.
