Man fighting for life after near-drowning incident at WhiteWater World

A man has been taken to hospital after nearly drowning at WhiteWater World on the Gold Coast.

Paramedics were called to a “post-immersion incident” involving a guest at the Waves Cave pool around 2pm on Friday.

The man, in his 30s, was treated at the scene and is said to be in a critical condition at Gold Coast University Hospital.

Dreamworld, the owner of WhiteWater World, acknowledged the incident in a statement a short time later.

“Our highly trained lifeguards responded immediately and the Queensland Ambulance Service immediately responded to the scene,” the statement said.

“The safety and well-being of our guests and team members is our top priority, and we assist emergency services when necessary.”
