Man Held for Posting Abusive Comments Against Renu Desai
Hyderabad:Cyberabad Cyber Crime Police arrested a man from Guntur for allegedly posting abusive and offensive comments targeting Tollywood actress Renu Desai on social media.
According to officials, the accused, identified as Chennaiah Runjala, was traced during an investigation into objectionable content posted online. Police said the actor watched the actress’ video reel on YouTube and then posted an abusive comment on his account.
Cybercrime authorities launched an investigation, analyzed digital evidence and identified the person responsible. He was caught in Guntur and brought to the Cyber Crime Police Station in Gachibowli for further investigation.
During verification, the accused showed the mobile phone that was allegedly used to make the comments. Legal action has been initiated under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act, police said.
The Cyber Crime Police have issued an advisory, urging social media users to be careful when posting content online. Authorities warned that abusive, slanderous or offensive comments could lead to legal consequences.
Citizens were also encouraged to report cyber crimes through the 1930 helpline or to the nearest cyber crime police station. Police said stringent action will be taken against misuse of social media platforms to spread offensive or harmful content.
