Man in 60s rushed to hospital in critical condition after suspected backyard pool near-drowning in Kurrajong

A man has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after drowning in a backyard pool in Sydney’s west.

Paramedics were called to an address on Gross Vale Road in Kurrajong, west of Richmond, just after 11.30am on Monday.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said a man in his 60s was treated by police officers before being taken to Hawkesbury Regional Hospital in a critical condition.

NewsWire understands the man was pulled unconscious from the pool by people at the facility who began CPR until paramedics arrived.

Police are investigating the scene.
