Man pleads not guilty to Boxing Day stabbing of wife

The court may ask for a man who is accused of killing his wife on the boxing day that he can find a innocent finding because of mental deterioration.

On Friday, John Beres met the Melbourne Magistrate Criminal Court through a video connection from prison.

On December 26, 2024, he was accused of the murder of his wife Yvonne, who was dead in a property in Langwarrin in southeast of Melbourne.

The police claimed that the 59 -year -old woman had been stabbed in a house in Wood Duck Court.

Emergency services, Mrs. Beres’in around 6.30 after arriving at the scene announced that she died at the scene.

Reader, a defense lawyer, said that he was trying to quickly monitor Beres’s case to the Court of Cassation on Friday and make an objection that was not guilty of murder.

In addition, prosecutors said that Beres reported that the legal team received a low mental value report.

“So will mental deterioration be trusted?” The magistrate’s judge asked Gerard Lethbridge.

“Potentially yes,” Mrs. Reader replied.

A person cannot be found guilty of a crime such as murder through mental deterioration, if proven, a mental illness, disability or brain damage that disrupts his decisions during guilt is proved.

The peace judge asked Beres how he begged the murder accusation.

“Not guilty,” he said.

A few members of the Beres family followed the short time online.

Beres will then face Melbourne Supreme Court for an instruction hearing on September 1.
