Man ‘sexually assaulted’ in Morrisons car park as another man arrested | UK | News

Police have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses after a man was sexually assaulted in a Morrisons car park. Between 8.30pm and 9pm on May 27, the man was approached and touched inappropriately outside the supermarket on Victoria Promenade, Northampton.

He was then followed before calling for help and leaving the area. A 31-year-old man from Northampton was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

Northamptonshire Police would now like to speak to the young people who helped the victim as they may have important information that could help the investigation.

Police said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses following a sexual assault in the Morrisons car park on Victoria Promenade in Northampton.

“The incident occurred between 8.50pm and 9pm on Wednesday, May 27, when a man was approached, touched inappropriately and followed before asking for help and leaving the area.

“A 31-year-old man from Northampton was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

“Officers are particularly keen to speak to the group of young people who assisted the victim as they may have important information that could assist the investigation.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information is also asked to come forward.”
