Man who warned coworkers ‘no one’s going home today’ gets prison term in fatal shooting
A. man from minnesota A man who allegedly told co-workers that “nobody was going home today” before a deadly workplace confrontation has been sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for fatally shooting an employee.
Mohamed A. Hared, 26, was sentenced to 128 months in prison Thursday after pleading guilty to second-degree manslaughter while committing a felony in the death of 22-year-old Ahmed Ibrahim Cariif earlier this year, according to the Dakota County District Attorney’s Office.
The shooting occurred in a parking lot on June 29, 2024. Amazon fulfillment center Hared is in Lakeville, Minnesota, where Cariif and another co-worker were carpooling together for the night shift.
According to the criminal complaint, the dispute began during a night’s work break when Hared noticed that the flashlight attachment was missing from the gun left in the vehicle the men were driving to work.

Hared accused Cariif and another associate of foreclosure, but both men denied any involvement, according to court records.
The three returned to the vehicle a few hours later during another stop to continue searching for the lost item. According to the complaint, a co-worker suggested that security be involved.
Instead, Hared reportedly continued to accuse the two men of taking the supplement.

According to the criminal complaint, Hared told the men, “No. You took my flashlight. I want my flashlight back. Nobody’s going home today.”
Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators showed the two men leaving before a second confrontation broke out, according to the complaint.
During the second fight, Hared pulled out a handgun, according to investigators.

A witness told police Cariif tried to grab the gun after it was pulled. The complaint stated that the first shot hit a nearby vehicle.
According to investigators, after the first gunshot, both Carlif and the witness shouted, “Don’t shoot.”
A Minnesota man was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for shooting and killing his co-worker following a dispute over the loss of a firearm accessory.
Hared then fired a second shot, hitting Cariif in the chest, authorities said.
Cariif died at the scene, and the autopsy later determined that the bullet had hit his heart, lungs and aorta.
Investigators said surveillance video showed Hared had the opportunity to retreat from the confrontation but instead continued fighting before the fatal shooting occurred.
Hared was initially charged with second-degree premeditated murder. He pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in the commission of a felony in January.
Dakota County District Attorney Kathy Keena said the murder was senseless.

“It makes no sense that the victim was shot and killed over such a trivial matter,” Keena said when the charges were announced in July 2024.Deadly gun violence It has no place in our communities, neighborhoods or workplaces.”
Hared received credit for 700 days already served and will remain in custody until transferred to the Minnesota Department of Corrections.
