Man with machete kills four children at Uganda nursery

A man killed four children in a machete attack on a kindergarten in Uganda’s capital Kampala, police said.

The man posed as a parent and gained access to the Gaba Early Childhood Development Program in Kampala, the Daily Monitor newspaper reported.

The report stated that the attacker first entered the school office, assigned the responsible administrator there for a short time, then went out, locked the door and started attacking children.

Police said in a statement that the attacker “brutally stabbed and killed 4 children.”

In the video footage published by local broadcaster NTV, some parents were seen crying.

Police fired into the air to disperse an angry crowd that had gathered near the school and was apparently trying to lynch the suspect.

The suspect was later taken into custody, police spokesman Kituuma Rusoke told The Associated Press.

He said the reason for the attack was unknown.

Such attacks on children are rare in Kampala, a city of about three million people.
