Man, woman and child die after ‘fall from height’ in South London | UK | News

Emergency services rushed to a street in Elephant and Castle, south London, after reports of people falling from heights.

A child, a woman and a man died after falling from a skyscraper. Emergency services rushed to Churchyard Row, Elephant and Castle, at around 7.30am on Wednesday, May 27, but all three people were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police said “efforts are ongoing to formally identify those who died.” The force also said its next bidders have been notified.

A spokesman said: “Met detectives are investigating after three people died after falling from a height on Wednesday, May 27. Police officers, London Ambulance Service, London Air Ambulance and London Fire Brigade responded to a high-rise apartment block in Churchyard Row, Elephant and Castle, at 7.29am following reports of people falling from a height.

“It was determined that three people, one man, one woman and one child, unfortunately died at the scene despite the intervention of first responders. Their deaths are currently considered to be unexpected.

“No other injuries were reported. Efforts are continuing to officially identify the deceased. Their relatives have been informed and support is being provided by expert teams.

London Ambulance Service also attended and a spokesman said “the first paramedic arrived within approximately four minutes”. The spokesman also said, “Very sadly, despite all the efforts of our teams, it was announced that three people died at the scene.”

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to come forward and call police on 101, quoting CAD 1613/27MAY.
