Manhunt after elderly man doused with petrol and assaulted before house set on fire

An old man is soaked with gasoline and wounded and a human hunt continues after the house is set on fire during a violent house invasion in the northeast of Victoria.

Police said that three unknown and armed people knocked on the door of a property on Melba Motorway around 1.15 o’clock on Monday.

The police realized that two people were armed with guns and one was a machete and asked the 68 -year -old residents to leave them in the house.

According to the police, after refusing to follow, they demanded cash and firearms before attacking the person living at home.

A Victoria police spokesman said, “Detectives were told that they dragged him out of the house and his vehicle’s boat before he went to the car.”

Police said the man managed to get out of the car and threatened by one of the criminals, and the other set the house on fire.

The police, “criminals poured gasoline to the victim, then fled the scene in a vehicle,” he said.

Police said three firearms were stolen during the incident.

The 68 -year -old man was subjected to injuries that did not threaten life during the attack and went to a neighboring property to call emergency service.

“The police believe that the incident is targeted and that criminals do not believe that the victim is known,” he said.

The investigation into the incident continues without being arrested by the police.
