A manhunt was launched after a pregnant woman was found dead in the park. After 23-year-old Ashanti Allen was reported missing by her family on Wednesday, April 10, her body was found six days later about four miles from her home.
Her boyfriend, 24-year-old Kevin Fake, is a murder suspect and is reportedly on the run from police in Texas. While Miss Allen’s family encouraged Fake to surrender, detectives launched an urgent investigation to track him down.
Local media reported that Ms Allen, who was eight months pregnant with a son, was found dead in Chimney Rock Park on Thursday, April 16.
As reported by KHOU 11After not hearing from the 23-year-old for a while, his family went to check on him. When they arrived at her house, they found her empty hospital bag packed by the door.
Fake was named as a suspect in her death and that of her unborn child after her body was discovered.
Ms. Allen reportedly sent an unusual message to her mother, Trisa Gaines, around 4 a.m. on the day she disappeared.
Gaines immediately went to his daughter’s house and checked on her. However, he was not there and his car was missing.
“All her stuff was there, the baby clothes were there, nothing was taken. The bag she packed for the hospital is still there,” Gaines explained. She also told ABC 13: “I already knew he was gone, a mother knows.”
Meanwhile, Ms. Allen’s father, Edward Allen, encouraged Fake to contact the police.
