A woman was raped at an address in a popular seaside town in England. Police have now launched an investigation and released CCTV photographs of a man they wish to identify.
Sussex Police said the victim was raped at around 9.40pm on Thursday, December 11. A man was seen speaking to her outside a property in Queens Place, Hove, before leaving the area around 10 minutes later. Investigators believe the man in the picture “may assist with further investigations.”
The man is described as having brown or black hair and a beard. He was also wearing a dark hat, a dark jacket with an emblem on the sleeve, blue jeans with faded legs, and a white top with a motif in the middle of his chest. He was also carrying a white plastic shopping bag.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues. They are seeking information from witnesses or anyone who may have footage from the area at the time of the rape.
Meanwhile, the victim is supported by specially trained police officers. The force reiterated that public safety in the region remains the “number one priority”.
Detective Inspector Alice Button said: “This remains an active and ongoing investigation, with officers continuing to carry out extensive inquiries to obtain further information, potential witnesses and relevant footage.
“Within the scope of this study, we continue our efforts to identify a person seen in the area at the time of the report, and we expect help from the public.
“Were you in the Queens Place area on the evening of Thursday 11 December? Did you see anything suspicious or recognize the man in the picture? Any information, no matter how small, could be vital.
“We are aware of the concerns this report may cause and would like to reassure the public that this investigation is ongoing, with public safety remaining our top priority.”
