Manhunt on after suspect allegedly shoots at family, officer in New Hampshire

State and local authorities are searching for an armed suspect who allegedly opened fire on family members and fired back at law enforcement in New Hampshire on Saturday, wounding at least one police officer and triggering a massive manhunt.

The suspect, described as a middle-aged white man, allegedly shot at family members just after 1.30pm local time and was then pursued by police officers.

The gunman then opened fire on responding officers, attacking one of them, according to New Hampshire State Police.

The injured police officer, whose name has not yet been released, was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.

While the armed attacker allegedly fled the scene, additional law enforcement officers intervened to create a security perimeter around the area in order to control the suspect.

He is 6 feet tall, 11 inches tall and weighs just over 200 pounds, according to state police. He has black hair and hazel eyes and is believed to travel on foot.

The Raymond Police Department said an automated message was sent by NH 911 for residents to shelter in place.

Authorities warned residents in the Ham and Nottingham roads area to take cover and “expect the presence of uniformed law enforcement personnel.”

Many roads remain closed, including Route 156, according to the department.

State police told Fox News Digital they were assisting in the search along with other law enforcement agencies.

The Raymond Police Department and the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to additional questions from Fox News Digital.

Raymond is a small town in southern New Hampshire, about 20 minutes east of Manchester and about an hour north of Boston, Massachusetts.
