Senate Republican Tim Scott slams Trump for ‘racist’ social media post

Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., called out President Donald Trump for publishing a post on Truth Social on Friday, demanding the president remove it.
Post In the video in question, which Trump posted on his Truth Social program on Thursday night, former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama were depicted as monkeys or apes.
Scott, the Senate GOP’s only Black member, called on Trump to repeal the mandate.

“I’m praying this is fake because this is the most racist thing I’ve ever seen in the White House,” Scott said. “The President should remove this”
With his request, Scott found an unlikely ally in Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (DY), who has similarly called for Trump to drop the mandate.
“Racist. Vile. Disgusting. This is dangerous and degrading to our country; where are the Republicans in the Senate? The President should immediately delete the post and apologize to Barack and Michelle Obama, two great Americans who made Donald Trump look like a jealous little man,” Schumer said. in x.
Scott and Trump had shared a warm relationship since he entered and dropped out of the Republican presidential race last year.
He now chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the Senate GOP’s campaign arm tasked with keeping Republicans’ slim majority in the upper chamber and expanding it through the 2026 midterm.

Scott has rarely opposed Trump, positioning himself as the president’s best ally; Trump was on the short list of possible vice presidential picks before later choosing Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio.

Scott, who also chairs the Senate Banking Committee, said in an interview with Fox Business earlier this week that he did not believe Powell committed a crime during his testimony to the committee last year.
“I found him incompetent to do his job, but incompetence or incompetence is not a criminal act,” Scott said.
The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
