Manipur CM grants Rs 1 lakh medical aid to 26 displaced persons

Guwahati: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh handed over financial assistance of Rs. A resident of Lamboikhongnangkhong Relief Camp Imphal and suffering from kidney ailments, cancer etc. 1 lakh each for medical treatment to 26 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) suffering from chronic diseases like.

Singh gave the financial assistance while participating in a program on distribution of medical aid to seriously ill IDPs at the Manipur Trade Fair Center Relief Camp in Lamboikhongnangkhong, Imphal West.

The Prime Minister noted that the government is providing financial assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to enable them to find some relief in difficult times. Special financial support is provided to IDPs with chronic diseases.

He also noted that today’s financial assistance is not the end of the Government’s support to IDPs and assured that all possible assistance will be provided to IDPs with chronic diseases in the future.

He emphasized that the decision to extend financial assistance was taken in the belief that it would help alleviate the challenges faced by Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who are currently suffering from the inability to return to their homes.


Singh said it was unfortunate that people could not live in their own homes.
He stated that the current situation has forced many people to endure the hardship of being away from their homes.

Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi stated that support for weaving machines and other allied livelihood activities will be provided to displaced women in the camp.
