Maoists kill teacher in Sukma; civilian toll in Bastar region at around 30 so far in 2025

Police, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 on the evening of a 30 -year -old man who works by Maoists in the Sukma region of Chhattisgarh as ‘Shikshadoot’ (a temporary visitor in public schools).
A reason was not clear immediately, but Maoists often target civilians and peasants, whom they suspect that they were acting as informants for the police.
Police said Shikshadoot Laxman Barse had received information that the Maoists armed with sharp -edged weapons that he was killed at the police station around 19.30 at Silger Village.
According to the entrances, Maoists also threw Barse’s family members when they tried to intervene.
“More legal proceedings are taken by the police in the event. Detailed information about the case will be shared later.”
On July 14, two Shikshadoots were killed by Maoists in the Farsearh region of the neighboring Bijapur Region, on suspicion of police informants.
On February 19, two men, including a Shikshdot, were killed on a similar ground in the neighboring Dantewada region.
With this incident, approximately 30 people died in the Maoist intensity in the Basttar region of seven regions, including Sukma, Bijapur and Dantewada this year.
