Mark Warner says he will return to Senate this week after daughter’s death
Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) said Monday he will return to the upper chamber this week after taking a break due to the death of his daughter, Madison.

Madison Warner, 36, died earlier this month after battling teenage diabetes and other health problems for decades. Mark Warner and his wife Lisa Collis he wrote in a statement They said they were “heartbroken beyond words” over the death of their daughter last Monday.
On Monday, the former Virginia governor said his daughter “is an extremely empathetic and caring person” and “has been full of ideas and suggestions for her since the day she passed,” including how to improve her social media presence.
“He would tell me: ‘Dad, you have the power, you must use it.’ “It has pushed me to make the most of my position, to use my seat in the Senate to help people in meaningful ways,” he added.
“If I can take any solace during this time, it is that I have the tremendous privilege of serving Virginians, and I have a responsibility on Maddy’s behalf to continue working for a better, more just world.”
“I look forward to returning to the Senate this week and continuing this important work,” Warner concluded.
Madison Warner is survived by two younger sisters.
