Marshawn Kneeland’s girlfriend alerted cops revealing his struggles? Audio dispatch reveals haunting final moments before Cowboys’ tragic death

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announced Thursday morning that Kneeland died from a “self-inflicted gunshot wound.” “We’re talking to his girlfriend, he’s trying to call his manager, so we’re trying to get him to call her first, but she says he’s armed and has a history of mental illness, and his line was, ‘He’s going to end it all,'” the officer said in the more than two-minute audio recording obtained by TMZ Sports.

Marshawn Kneeland had a ‘history of illness’
Catalina told authorities Marshawn Kneeland had a “history of mental illness.” The call also included a warning from a dispatcher. The person in question said, “You all do me a favor, everyone stay with a friend, don’t go searching alone, this man is armed.”
Kneeland is said to have texted his family “goodbye,” according to the New York Post. “… I just got a group text from him saying goodbye, they’re concerned for his welfare, they don’t have keys to the apartment,” another officer said in the clip, which apparently began mid-sentence.
Frisco police said they received information that Kneeland, who they said fled on foot, was “intent on suicide” and found him dead at 1:31 a.m. The audio recording indicated they found him in a portable toilet near a building. “We saw no movement, still got heat signature, looks like he was curled up at the bottom of the porta potty,” the dispatcher said. “With the blood flow from the porta potty.”

Kneeland’s death was announced by the Cowboys on Thursday. He was 24 years old. “It is with great sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning,” the team said in a statement. “Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers are with his girlfriend, Catalina, and his family.”
