Maryland suspect accused of targeting Trump Cabinet official Russell Vought

A Maryland man has been arrested for allegedly targeting Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russell Vought in a murder plot.
Colin Demarco, 26, of Rockville, now faces charges of attempted murder, criminal solicitation of murder, carrying a concealed weapon and wearing a mask in public to conceal his identity, the Arlington County Police Department said.
“We are grateful to law enforcement for keeping Director Vought and his family safe,” an OMB spokesperson told Fox News Digital on Friday. he said.

Demarco was arrested at his home on Jan. 16, 2026, and was being held without bail at the Arlington County Detention Facility following his extradition to Virginia, the Arlington County Police Department said.
“On August 10, 2025, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Arlington County Police were dispatched to the 3800 block of 7th Avenue S. for a report of a suspicious person. A witness reported observing a male suspect on the victim’s porch wearing a surgical mask and rubber gloves, carrying a backpack, and concealing a firearm under his shirt,” police said in a statement Thursday. he said.

“During the investigation, the Arlington County Police Department executed search warrants for digital records related to the suspect. As a result of these search warrants, police obtained digital evidence that the suspect had a description of the victim’s residence, had information detailing the location of firearms owned by a relative, and had a guide detailing tips to prevent crime detection,” the Arlington County Police Department said. he added.
“In addition, the suspect had posted about the victim online and had online discussions that appeared to encourage others to kill the victim. A few days after these online requests, on August 10, an incident occurred in which the suspect, wearing a mask and gloves, possibly concealing a firearm, arrived at the victim’s address and asked questions about the victim. As a result of the investigation, detectives issued a criminal warrant for the suspect’s arrest.”
Demarco said he went to Vought’s home because he wanted to confront him about Project 2025, CBS News reported, citing the complaint.
According to CBS News, in November 2024, Demarco was taken into custody in Maryland via a mental illness emergency petition following a request from a police officer to run him over or shoot him.
