Maryland woman accused of flashing handgun at Taco Bell over slow order

Maryland deputies say a woman challenged Taco Bell employees to “meet outside,” lifted her shirt to reveal a gun and put her hand on the handle of the gun while arguing about how long it would take to get her food.
According to the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Ashley Andrews was arrested at a Taco Bell in Chester, Maryland, on June 18 after a customer responded to reports that he displayed a firearm during a confrontation with employees.

Restaurant employees told deputies that Andrews became angry about the wait time for his order and allegedly told staff to meet him in the parking lot before revealing a gun and using threatening language.
When deputies arrived, they detained Andrews and another member of his group who authorities said were involved in an ongoing verbal dispute. Authorities said a loaded firearm was seized from Andrews’ person.
Investigators later reviewed surveillance video and personal videos recorded by an employee that appeared to corroborate the workers’ account, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said the footage showed Andrews lifting his shirt to display the gun and placing his hand on the handle of the firearm as he continued to argue with employees.
The shooting took place at the Taco Bell in the Kent Town Market shopping center on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
Authorities said Andrews had a loaded firearm when deputies arrived.
Accordingly Reporting from Law&CrimeCourt records show Andrews was initially held on a $5,000 bond before posting bail and securing his release the next day.

He was charged with second-degree assault, assault on a person with a gun, disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment, according to the sheriff’s office. He was also banned from Taco Bell property, authorities said.
Andrews is represented by a public defender and is exercising his right to a speedy trial, according to Law&Crime. He is scheduled to appear in court in July.
