Mavala Police Arrest 2 For Stalking, Blackmailing Girl Students

ADILABAD: Mavala police on Saturday arrested two men on charges of stalking, blackmailing and threatening young girls and women by deceiving them in the name of love.
The accused were identified as 28-year-old auto driver Sheikh Salman and 24-year-old chicken shop owner Imran Khan, both residents of Adilabad town. Mavala Circle Inspector (CI) Karra Swamy formed special police teams who arrested the duo near Polytechnic College in Balajingar. Cases were registered against them under Articles 78, 351(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police said the suspects confessed to their crimes and their mobile phones were seized. Investigators found digital evidence supporting the victims’ complaints.
Giving detailed information to the media, Adilabad DSP L. Jeevan Reddy said that the arrests took place following a complaint from a young female student who alleged that two men were harassing and threatening her. The accused had warned that if he did not comply with their demands, they would publish his photos taken on his birthday in Gandhi Park on social media.
DSP Reddy said the accused pressured several schoolgirls to comply with his instructions and threatened them with dire consequences if they refused. The victim stated that the prime accused Salman threatened to share her photos after she rejected his offer and also claimed that he had nude photos of her friend.
DSP called on young girls and students to be careful when receiving calls from unknown people. He called on parents to closely monitor their children’s phone interactions and friendships to avoid such incidents.
