Maya Hawke says mom Uma Thurman raised her with ‘witch-adjacent’ remedies

Maya Hawke sheds light on how she grew up with Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke as parents.
Open NPR’s “Wild Card with Rachel Martin” Maya dove into the “witch-adjacent” treatments her mother instilled in her as a child.
“My mother really taught me to love and respect nature… just like herbal medicine,” she began. “It’s kind of like ‘witch-adjacent.’ It’s not a hassle and a hassle, but it’s a bad thing.”

He explained that what he still remembers from his childhood was the pineapple peel tea his mother drank when she had a cold. “Because the enzymes in the pineapple peel are good for getting rid of colds,” he added.

Maya explained that her father was “magic in a different way.”
“She’s a magical thinker. I wouldn’t say she’s a witch, but she used to do treasure hunts for me when I was a kid,” Maya added. “She’s cunning and magical, but she’s not a witch.”

The “Stranger Things” star noted that he grew up between Manhattan and Upstate New York. Maya explained that Uma loves nature and that she is an “amazing gardener.”
Maya said that while she was growing up, she didn’t know how “important” her parents’ job was because her mother spent most of her time with her “on her knees” in her garden, finding ingredients to make soup.

Maya comes from one of Hollywood’s most famous families. Of course, Ethan is best known for his roles in “Dead Poets Society,” “Training Day,” “Childhood” and the “Before” trilogy, while his mother, Uma, also rose to fame with her iconic roles in “Pulp Fiction” and Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill.”

Ethan and Uma married in 1998 after meeting on the set of “Gattaca” and divorced in 2005. Following in her parents’ footsteps, Maya has gone on to have a successful career as both an actress and singer-songwriter, and has become widely known for her role as Robin Buckley on Netflix’s hit series “Stranger Things.”

Maya has a total of four siblings.

He has one full sibling, younger brother Levon Roan Thurman-Hawke. From her father’s marriage to Ryan Shawhughes, Maya has two half-sisters, Clementine Hawke and Indiana Hawke. She has another half-sister, Luna Thurman-Busson, due to her mother’s relationship with financier Arpad Busson.
