Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while responding to the controversy over the Governor’s speech in the Assembly on Friday, the fifth day of the Budget Session, said that before 2017, Uttar Pradesh was seen as a burden due to “economic distress, poor infrastructure and lawlessness”, but under his regime, it has emerged as the “economic powerhouse” of India.

Highlighting the state’s “economic rise, infrastructural growth, improved law and order and public welfare measures”, Adityanath said, “What was the situation before 2017? Mafia and criminals fed by the patronage of the government were running a parallel government. Goonda tax, illegal extortion and ‘one district, one mafia’ trend were encouraged. Law had become the fiefdom of a few. Curfews and riots were common. Festivals and Celebrations equated with fear, not faith.” It was significant that neither the girls nor the businessmen were demoralized before. Today, Uttar Pradesh has become synonymous with celebration, not turmoil.

‘A fearless environment’

The Chief Minister said “zero tolerance towards crime and criminals” is clearly visible in Uttar Pradesh today. “Strong law and order has transformed the State from a zone of fear to a zone of faith. Curfew culture has been replaced by a culture of zero tolerance. Riots are now being replaced by festival and temple economy. There is neither curfew nor riots anymore… All is well in UP Today, women enjoy security, while businesses enjoy a fear-free environment. More than 219,000 police personnel have been recruited and 20% of these positions have been appointed to women. Before 2017, the Uttar Pradesh Police “It had 10,000 female staff; today that number has increased to almost 44,000,” he said.

Mr. Adityanath said that the state’s nine-year journey under the BJP government has been a journey from crime and chaos to discipline, from curfew to rule of law, from riots to celebrations, from problems to solutions and from insecurity to trust. “This is a renaissance model. It combines heritage and development…both go hand in hand. This renaissance of faith started in Uttar Pradesh. The state is the epicenter of India’s faith. It would not be an exaggeration to call it the soul of India’s faith,” he said.

Commenting on the state’s economic rise, Mr. Adityanath said, “Uttar Pradesh’s share in the country’s GDP was once just 8%. Today it has risen to almost 9.5%. We have also managed to keep the fiscal deficit below 3%. Today, Uttar Pradesh is progressing at double the pace thanks to the open agricultural policy. Earlier, costs were high, production was low and middlemen dominated. Today cost is low, production is high. By eliminating “middlemen” through DBT (direct benefit transfer), the state provides the price of the product directly to the farmer.

It targets the opposition

The Prime Minister, who was harsh on the opposition, said the following about those who oppose the National Song: Vande Mataram, They have no right to reside in Indian territory. “The appeasement policies of the Samajwadi Party and the Congress have hindered the development and cultural revival of our State.”

Speaking about the Prayagraj Magh Mela controversy involving Swami Avimukteshwaran and Saraswati, the CM said “any random person cannot use the title of Shankaracharya”. “No one is above the law in this country. If the Samajwadi Party wants to worship him, he is free to do so,” he said.
