Kollam district steps up preparations for Census 2027

The district administration accelerated preparations for the 2027 Census by assigning 4 master trainers and 87 field trainers to supervise the data collection process.
Field instructors were selected from among high school teachers and officials in various government departments. These field trainers will train auditors and enumerators who will work directly in the field, after receiving special training from expert trainers. In order to facilitate this, a three-day training program for field trainers in the Collection Directorate, organized in various groups, will be held between 18-23 May. Meanwhile, the official appointment process of chiefs and counting officers continues under the leadership of the designated responsible officials. The training period for newly appointed auditors and enumerators was scheduled to take place between May 28 and June 23.
Digital possibilities
This edition of the nationwide census will feature modern digital facilities, including a self-numbering system that allows citizens to record their own details. From June 16 to June 30, individuals can visit the official portal at https://se.census.gov.in/ to enter their details independently. The portal will display 34 custom questions in the user’s preferred language, but the language cannot be changed once selected.
After successfully submitting their answers online, residents will receive a unique personal enumeration ID via SMS or email. Enumerators will then use this special ID to verify the submitted details before officially uploading them to the private Census app. The first phase of door-to-door data collection will take place between July 1 and July 30 for which comprehensive house listing blocks are currently being formulated, said the District Collector, who is heading the operations.
