The Indian Air Force’s iconic MIG-21 fighter aircraft will retire after a large farewell ceremony planned to be planned at the Chandigarh Air Force Station on September 26th. This important opportunity points to the end of a period in India’s air power history, and MIG-21 played a very important role in shaping the country’s air capabilities.
At the end of the Mig-21 jets belonging to Fleet 23 nicknamed “Panthers”, the last farewell will be said at the Chandigarh Air Force Station.

Who is Fleet Leader Priya Sharma?
Originally from the Jhunjhunu area in Rajasthan, Fleet leader Priya Sharma will be one of the pilots who join the ceremony MIG-21 Flypast. He also flew at full dress rehearsal on Wednesday.
The six jets of the element 23, which is planned to be a part of the farewell, will be met with a water ball salute on the landing. Sharma will have an important role at this date.
Priya Sharma, a graduate of the Air Force Academy 2018 in Dundygal, is the seventh female fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force. According to Indian Express, he was appointed as a flying officer after receiving the graduation certificate from the army chief Bipin Rawat at that time.
Why did Priya Sharma join the Air Force?
Sharma watched his father’s way to join the Air Force. With education, an engineer was the only female fighter pilot in her party. At stages 2 and 3, he served at the Hakimpet Air Force Station in Haydarabad before moving to the Bidar Air Force Station in Karnataka for forward warrior training.
Sharma attributes the love of flying to her childhood, where Jaguars and Hawk watches her childhood as she is placed in Bidar. In August of this year, he participated in the formation flights of the MIG-21 farewell sortie of the IEF chief at the Nal Air Force Station in Bikaner, and made a historical main mainland in the legacy of India’s iconic fighter plane.
His participation is also symbolic and fulfills the transformation of IAF with new generation of pilots, including both men and women, and the retired fleet in war roles. In August, he had flew in the formation during the MIG-21 farewell questions of the IEF chief at the Nal Air Force Station.
Meanwhile, the farewell ceremony on September 26 promises that the air power will be a great representation with a series of events planned to honor the legacy of MIG-21. The ceremony will start with the arrival of Chief Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and then jump from IAF’s 8,000 feet. This will be fulfilled with a magnificent flypast of the MIG-21 aircraft, accompanied by the sensitivity of the air warrior drill team and an air salute. Warrior pilots will fly in the formation of three aircraft ‘badal’ and four aircraft ‘Panther’ and the last time on the sky.
