Megan Rapinoe’s latest defense of males in women’s sports collapses under its own hypocrisy | Dan Zaksheske

Megan Rapinoe, whose name Americans only know because of women’s sports, seems oddly determined to destroy women’s sports now that she’s retired.

Rapinoe has been a staunch advocate for men competing in boys’ and women’s sports; As long as these men claim to be just girls and women, it’s no wonder what Rapinoe thinks about the recent Supreme Court decision regarding the protection of women’s sports.

In an essay for Marie Claire, Rapinoe listed common left-wing talking points that aim to convince rational-thinking people that keeping men out of women’s sports is somehow bad for girls and women.

Let’s look at the arguments one by one.

The article was titled: “Anti-Trans Legislation Isn’t About ‘Protecting Girls’, It’s About Taking Us Away From Things That Matter.”

First, Rapinoe calls this an “anti-trans” law, which is, of course, wrong. It’s a pro-women law. It is ironic that he says the legislation is a distraction while using deliberately misleading language to distract the reader from the facts.

Rapinoe begins by saying she was preparing to shoot a World Cup commercial, but claims the brand decided to remove her from the ad because of her radical leftist stance against men competing in women’s sports.

She then criticizes the eponymous brand for lacking “moral clarity” because she doesn’t want to be associated with someone like Rapinoe. Of course, the opposite is true. It is Rapinoe who clearly lacks moral clarity. This is what psychologists call “projection.”

Rapinoe then moves on to her first argument. Sorry, it’s disingenuous to call this “his” argument. This using the same argument over and over by left-wing activists and politicians, including AOC.

He claims that keeping men out of women’s sports will cause women to “suffer the most”. Of course there is zero evidence of this and once again the exact opposite is true. She then moves on to the first point: “Women across the country are being denied their reproductive rights and left to bleed to death in hospital parking lots.”

It is once again ironic that the title of the article talks about distraction, and its first argument is to distract from the issue at hand and tell everyone “what about abortion!” It is once again ironic that this means: Additionally, the idea that women are “left to bleed to death in hospital parking lots” is also a debunked myth.

If you like tired and debunked leftist views, we have good news for you. Ms. Rapinoe came armed with more.

He quickly moves on to the “invasive genital examination” argument that has become a favorite among activists. He claims that all girls will be subjected to invasive genital examination in order to participate in sports.

The part he skips is this: almost every athlete undergo a routine physical examination before exercising. I know this because I played sports growing up and throughout high school. I had to be examined every year.

And those exams included the doctor checking for a hernia, which meant the doctor held my genitals and asked me to cough. It was performed by a professional, licensed medical doctor.

Rapinoe makes it sound like the women are going to be sent to the back of the gym to have a man examine them in an unmarked van. This is complete nonsense and a fear-mongering tactic used to scare parents who want a level playing field for their daughters into rethinking their position.

He also laments that only girls, “not boys”, will have to prove their biological sex. Yes, Megan, because men’s sports are not under threat of destruction by women who claim to be men. In fact, girls are welcomed to compete in boys’ sports. We’ve seen girls compete in the Little League World Series. From where? Because there is no inherent physical advantage that would make it unfair for girls to compete in boys’ sports.

But let’s continue.

“Preventing girls from playing sports is the whole point.”

I don’t even want to dignify this line with a response. The idea that laws intended to keep boys out of girls’ sports are actually a ploy to keep girls out of girls’ sports is too ridiculous to be entertaining.

“Girls of color are the first to be targeted and questioned about their bodies.”

Oh, of course it wouldn’t be the rhetoric of a radical left activist without allegations of racism. If you’re wondering, yes, Rapinoe did manage to include sexism, racism, and homophobia in the article. It’s like left-wing radicals painting by the numbers. There’s no logical argument for boys competing in girls’ sports, so they have to resort to the usual bigotry arguments.

“Attacks against trans girls are ploys to destabilize us and distract from real issues that affect all Americans, like the costs of food, gas, healthcare, and housing.”

Here we go again. There are bigger problems! Why are they worried about this? The idea that the government cannot focus on more than one issue at a time is funny because these are the same people who advocate socialist and communist policies. They want the government to have more control over people’s lives and argue that the government is not effective enough to address multiple issues simultaneously. Ironic, right?

“If we truly cared about safety and fairness in sport, we would be breaking down the barriers girls face at every level, protecting them from sexual violence and harassment, and paying professional female athletes on the same scale as their male counterparts.”

Sexual assault and harassment are illegal, so I’m not sure what Rapinoe meant by this. Additionally, the idea that female athletes are not paid “at the same rate as their male counterparts” is actually false. Do female athletes generally make less money than male athletes? Yes. But that’s because men’s sports generate much more revenue. This is capitalism.

On the contrary, women in the WNBA were previously overpaid, given that the league failed to turn a profit in its first 25 years. MLB, NFL, NHL and NBA are some of the most valuable sports organizations in the world and generate billions of dollars in revenue. That’s why men are paid more. This isn’t some big conspiracy.

Women are now making more money as more people watch the WNBA, attend games and buy merchandise. This is basic economics. But Ms. Rapinoe isn’t particularly interested in the basic facts because they get in the way of her preferred narrative.

“Advocating for our trans brothers and sisters and welcoming them to the field sends a strong message to these politicians that we reject their hatred and discrimination and that we must keep their hands off our bodies.”

Rapinoe ends with a line that she undoubtedly believes is powerful, but it falls flat completely. He revisits another abortion-related talking point that doesn’t apply even in this case: “Keep your hands off our bodies.”

Since there is a category where women can compete in sports independent of men, it’s fascinating that Rapinoe, a famous celebrity millionaire, so fervently supports men competing in women’s sports. Of course, since he is retired now, this issue does not affect him at all. She also doesn’t have a daughter to worry about being glared at by a boy who claims to be a girl in the girls’ locker room.

She probably sees herself as a brave trailblazer for women, but she’s just a retired athlete trying to score political and social points with other like-minded radicals by opposing something that doesn’t affect her in the slightest.

This is not courage.

This is cowardice.
