Meghan Markle’s controversial claim about Royal Family dismissed | Royal | News

Meghan Markle’s Queen Elizabeth II His controversial claim that he did not know he was supposed to curtsy to Elizabeth was rejected by royals. The Duchess of Sussex made the claim while appearing in her and Harry’s self-titled Netflix docuseries, which airs in six parts in December 2022.

To talk Vanity Fair, fashion and culture commentator Tom Fitzgerald said: “Meghan is a woman who browses the menu online before heading to a restaurant to choose what to eat. [late] My Queen, I don’t find this very convincing because [based on] “Despite everything he’s told us about himself, I can’t imagine going into meeting the Royal Family completely cold, without doing any research.”

The claim was just one of many bombshells the couple dropped throughout the interview.

After Harry told his then-girlfriend that she was meeting her beloved grandmother for the first time after a visit to the church, Meghan remembers thinking it was a joke when she asked if she knew how to curtsy. She then made a dramatic and over-the-top bow as Harry watched.

Meghan later explained: “I kind of curtsied… ‘Nice to meet you, Your Majesty.’ It was so intense.” The Duke of Sussex also recalled this moment in his memoir Spare. She claimed Meghan was taught how to curtsy by Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.

In his explosive memoir Spare, Harry wrote: “Fergie came out a little emotional and said, ‘Can you curtsy?’ he asked. Meg nodded. “Fergie then performed and Meg imitated her.”

Among the many shocking claims in the series, Harry claimed there were “huge levels of unconscious bias” in the Royal Family. The documentary references the time Princess Michael of Kent wore a Blackamoor-style brooch to an event the Duchess of Sussex attended in 2017.

He said: “In this family, sometimes you become part of the problem rather than part of the solution. There is a huge level of unconscious bias. Unconscious bias is not really anyone’s fault. But once it is recognized or identified within yourself, you have to correct it. This is education. It is awareness. It is a constant work in progress for everyone, including me.”

Harry then talked about the time he wore a Nazi uniform at a private party in 2005. He said: “It was probably one of the biggest mistakes of my life. I was so embarrassed afterwards. All I wanted to do was make it right.” He told how he met the Chief Rabbi in London and how he went to Berlin to improve himself.
