Meghan may finally be ready to return to the UK, but her royal family relatives may not be too keen on it. It has been years since the Duchess of Sussex last visited British soil; His most recent visit took place during the passing of the late Queen Elizabeth.
While Prince Harry has made several trips to his homeland since then, including to the coronation of his father King Charles, Meghan and their two children, six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet, have been conspicuously absent. But that could change soon, as reports suggest the Sussexes will have their police security reinstated, making Harry feel more comfortable bringing them along on visits.
The tense relationship between Harry and Meghan, as well as some other royals, is no secret. It’s understood William and Harry aren’t getting along very well at the moment, and there were even high-profile scheduling conflicts last year when the brothers held their engagements miles apart.
It follows an incident in which a ‘disturbed’ Prince William was upset with Meghan Markle for missing Princess Diana’s diamonds.
But frosty relations between the once-close siblings and their spouses began even before Harry and Meghan decided to step away from Royal life and move to California in 2020.
In his memoir Spare, Harry revealed that, ahead of his wedding to Meghan in 2018, friction increased between the so-called ‘Fab Four’ when the bride and her sister-in-law broke out in an argument over bridesmaids’ dresses.
One observer suggested there was a particular reason why Meghan’s possible return to Britain would be a “bitter pill” for Kate and William to swallow.
Writing for the Sunday Times, Shane Watson said: “Of all the royals, William and Kate will need to assume the support position when the Sussex show comes to town, and unfortunately for them, Meghan’s year has started with a mega boom.”

Relations between the two couples are thought to have deteriorated further following Meghan’s inaccurate comment about Kate’s “baby brain” in 2018 – but Harry detailed the dedicated efforts the foursome undertook to put things right.
During the special summit designed to clear the air, the Duke explained that he quickly realized that they had made little progress, observing: “I felt that none of these grievances being aired did us any good.”
